Deepwell Steakhouse Coming to Downtown Mooresville

If your household is anything like mine, one of the most challenging parts of the day is figuring out the answer to, “What’s for dinner?” That’s one of the reasons I always enjoy hearing about new restaurants coming to town especially when they’re bringing something a little different to the area.

The former JJ Wasabi’s building at the corner of Main Street and Moore Avenue is being transformed into Deepwell, a brand-new steakhouse from the highly regarded team behind Kindred, Hello Sailor, Albertine, and Milkbread.

If you’ve driven through downtown lately, you’ve probably noticed the extensive renovations already underway beside the new Moore Avenue pedestrian plaza near the Charles Mack Citizen Center. The building has been under construction for quite some time, and now we finally know what’s coming.

Deepwell is being described as a modern take on the classic American steakhouse, heavily inspired by the flavors and culture of the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans. The menu is expected to feature dry-aged steaks, chops, charcuterie, and more. There will also be a large indoor-outdoor bar serving everything from local craft beer to classic New Orleans cocktails like the Sazerac and French 75. I’ll be honest — I’m not exactly sure what those drinks are, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

One of the more interesting features will be a glass-enclosed dry-aging and curing room that guests will be able to see directly from the dining area. Plans also include a private dining room designed for special events and gatherings of up to 25 people.

I think this will be a great addition to Mooresville’s growing fine dining scene alongside staples like Epic Chophouse, Aqua Ragazza, and Savannah Oyster Company.
