Steven’s Country Store and Butcher Shop

I’m guessing that most reading this have never heard of Stevens Country Store and Butcher Shop. I would also be willing to bet that if you have passed by, you’ve not likely taken time to stop in. I would suggest you do next time. Steven’s (formerly McGlaughlins) is located at 15725 Mooresville Road (Hwy. 150 East heading towards Salisbury) about 8 minutes from downtown Mooresville.

Steven Clodfelter and his family purchased the store from the McGlaughlins a few years ago, and they do a wonderful job.

They cut local fresh meat to order while you wait. Whether its a 2″ filet, ribeye roast or ground beef ground while you wait exactly to the fat percentage that you desire. They have a little bit of everything including locally sourced products like country ham, jams and preserves, and a whole lot more.

They also do breakfast every morning!

McGlaughlins Sausage is still made fresh daily right behind the store. If you’ve never had their sausage, you’re missing out. Jimmy Dean himself probably eats it over his own every morning. Try the extra sage version. Stop in and see Steven. You won’t have to look hard; he’ll find you most likely!

Almost 90% of people aged 65-79 live in “under-occupied” homes

Between 2019 and 2021, the median household’s net worth increased 30%, to $166,900, as COVID-related lockdowns provided less opportunities for impulse purchases and employees could pad their savings accounts by working from home and ditching expenses like commuting costs and expensive lunch runs. Among all American households’ assets, an owned home was the most valuable, accounting for about two-thirds of the median household’s net worth.

Only 1% of existing US homes changed hands in the first half of 2023, the lowest number in a decade and the lowest available inventory of homes in 20 years.
